PIC16F84A Alarm Clock
Here is a simple PIC16F84A alarm clock. This page summarizes this discussion (in french) in my forum, where Samir (aka numerique1) requested for help to build a weekly alarm clock for his school. Many thanks to him for his tests and patience.
This clock counts seconds, minutes, hours and day of the week.
Time is displayed on 4 seven segment LED displays, and is adjustable with three buttons at start time (up, down, enter).
You can program the day of the week, hour, minute and duration of the alarms.
The number of alarms are limited by ROM space only.
The alarm is on the RA4 open collector output of the PIC, and is repeated on a decimal point of the display.
For once, the program is in BASIC (mikroBasic) and I hope it will make a good start for beginners.
Note that you can build it either for common cathod or common anode LED display
Flashing LED (PIC12F629)
This is the first example that you should to know how to set output pin. In this example, GPO is set as an output. LED1 will be turn-on when GP0 is set high and LED1 wiil be turn-off when GP0 is set low.
This example use 4MHz internal clock.

At this point, I can't say what application it can be used. As "Fantastic Car's light", "KITT", "Knight Rider" or whatever is called. Also can be used as third brake light. Now it have a push button to change the speed and mode, so I think it can be used in many way.
By the way, Someone told me about it installed in his Bike looks really cool. I'm not sure if he was talking about a MOTORCYCLE or BICYCLE. (Someday, if you see that kind of lights coming, it may not be the "Knight Rider". Maybe the guy riding his bike).
Here is the schematic:
There is 4 functions:
* LED CHASER MODE
* BRAKE MODE
* CHASER/BRAKE MODE
* OFF. (If you want to use it in your Bycicle, you can save battery).
Now, it can be turned off, so remove the Zenner diode and resistor and build your own light for your bike.
I like cool stuff in my car, but at this point, I'm not sure what else can be done. Some ideas to improve this circuit was provided by Lito (I Should say "shOestring"?)
As a comment, I like that kind of light in my truck, but I don't use it anymore. Anyway, someday I will develop a "Music Dancing light" (something like Sound meter or lights changing while you hear your favorite CD). Another idea was to use my Led Display as Third brake light and send messages to the driver behind me
